Movies
Search exact movie identities, request through your configured stack, and verify delivery before playback.
Before you begin
Movie catalog search requires a configured Seerr connection; it is unavailable in a zero-integration app-only installation. Requests and playback add the tested Plex, Riven and Seerr workflow. Save and explicitly Test connection for each in Settings. These are separate services you already operate; Setup does not install them.
Find and request a movie
- Open Search and select Movies. Check the title, year and exact IMDb/TMDB identity.
- Open the details and review any recorded history. Search alone acquires nothing.
- Choose to request the exact movie only when you want the configured backend to acquire it.
- Use Check request for backend delivery status.
- Use Check in Plex, then test playback in your actual client.
Expected result: the request, delivery and verification each have their own state. An accepted request does not mean the movie is playable. Do not resubmit uncertain requests to force progress.
Understand verification
Ready requires the exact IMDb identity in the correct Movies library, compatible media with selected English audio, and a successful bounded byte read. Verification expires and is invalidated when media or selected streams change. It proves bounded file access, not decoding of the entire film or completed viewing.
The backend's configured quality policy prefers 4K and labels HD fallbacks. Omakase does not silently change global provider settings, clear blacklists or retry provider-restricted media.
Save your response to the film
Record status and an optional 1–10 rating in half steps. A rating alone does not mark completion. Movie suggestions use saved ratings and genres locally; they do not use generative movie AI or invent a fit percentage.
Use History & ratings for explicit Plex watch-history imports. Movies & TV reference includes the read-only movie CLI examples. For cached inventory without provider calls, see Agent tools.
