Use Omakase / movies and TV

Movies & TV

Find titles, use exact movie requests, inspect TV seasons, and keep playback evidence separate from watch history.

Before you begin

Connect the services you use in Settings → Connections, save them, and explicitly Test connection. Movie and TV catalog search requires a configured Seerr connection; neither search is available with zero integrations. Movie requests use tested Plex, Riven and Seerr. TV catalog details use Seerr and its configured backend; exact inventory checks use Plex. These services are separate installations.

Find a movie

  1. Open Search and choose Movies. Review the title, year and exact identity.
  2. Open the details. A search alone does not add a request or mark anything watched.
  3. If you choose to request it, Omakase sends its exact identity to the configured backend.
  4. Use Check request for delivery status, then Check in Plex for bounded media access.

Expected result: request status and verification remain separate. Acknowledgement means the request was accepted, not that the movie is ready. Configured quality policy prefers 4K; any HD fallback is labelled.

Movie readiness requires the exact IMDb identity in the correct Movies library, compatible media with selected English audio, and a successful bounded byte read. Verification expires and is invalidated when the file or selected streams change. It does not prove the whole film was decoded or watched; test playback in your actual Plex client.

Record movie history and ratings

Save watched status and an optional 1–10 rating in half steps from the details. Rating and completion are independent: a rating alone does not mark a movie completed.

Sync watched from Plex explicitly imports observations visible to your configured Plex token. Use the actual viewer's token. Imports are bounded; follow remaining/skipped results rather than assuming one batch imported everything. Manual overrides survive sync. This import does not write to Plex or silently sync ratings to external trackers.

Movie suggestions rank saved ratings and genres locally. They do not use generative movie AI or invent a fit percentage.

Follow a TV show

  1. Open TV Shows (on phones, open Browse first) or choose TV Shows in Search.
  2. Open a show and choose a season to browse its episodes. Refresh the catalog when needed.
  3. To read existing media, connect the unique Plex library named TV Shows, use the explicit collection sync, then Check in Plex.
  4. Record episode progress, a series status and a rating independently.

In Plex means exact matched season/episode inventory; it is not byte-verified Ready. Imported watch flags do not overwrite manual episode corrections. Unknown/future air dates cannot be manually marked watched. A series status does not mark all episodes watched, and an observation timestamp is not an invented watch date.

Automated TV acquisition is not supported. A whole-series request cannot safely stand in for a selected-season request. Keep existing TV media intact and use your administrator's established workflow for additions.

No AniList writes are made for general TV. Anime, movie and TV identities and histories remain distinct.

Operator CLI

Run commands inside the existing private runtime, bound to your own account. These read commands are examples; use your actual account ID:

bash
omakase plus movies --user-id 1 list
omakase plus movies --user-id 1 search 'The Thing 1982'
omakase plus movies --user-id 1 history

omakase plus movies --help documents request, verify, rate and history-sync operations. Requests, ratings and syncs are real actions; issue them only deliberately with reviewed exact IDs. Saved connections supply credentials, not command-line tokens.

For cached, account-scoped inventory without provider calls, use Agent tools. For playback failures, use Troubleshooting.
