Use the app / households

Shared libraries, personal records

Set up an optional shared library while keeping each member's tracking, ratings and credentials personal.

Released optional capability. New-install feature flags default off; each installation needs operator qualification before opt-in activation. Existing users are not silently moved into shared libraries. App-only use does not require a household.

A household shares a catalog and compatible media, not a login. One multi-audio movie can serve two members while each keeps a different rating and audio selection.

What is shared?

Shared libraryEach person's account
Titles, compatible files and owner-controlled media connectionsWatch progress, ratings and tracker identities
Owner rules for additions and requestsAllowed language preferences and verified stream selection

Members never receive the owner's connector keys. A shared title does not mark everyone watched, connect anyone to AniList/MAL or establish a Plex viewer identity.

Start with the right library

  1. The owner opens Settings → Household and chooses an empty library or reviews the personal-library promotion preview.
  2. The owner creates an invitation. Each recipient signs in to their own account, reviews the target library and explicitly accepts.
  3. Choose Personal or Shared from the library selector before adding a title. Personal history stays attached to the person.
  4. The owner chooses whether members can add titles or request media and explicitly configures the library's media sources.

Add shared title changes the catalog. Request media is a separate action that records the actual member, owner acquisition criteria and permitted language choices. An unsupported dispatcher stays queued/unavailable with no provider request. New operational monitors are not silently activated through the old acquisition path.

Keep, remove or leave

A member can withdraw their own keep request. Owner catalog-only removal retains files and personal history. Physical deletion remains blocked by active shared bindings or unresolved keep, use or watching claims; it needs the separate removal review.

Revoking an unused invitation stops it being accepted. Removing a member stops future authorized access and dispatch after fresh permission checks. It does not erase that person's ratings or transfer their tracker credentials.

Before an administrator enables it

The feature flag is OMAKASE_PLUS_HOUSEHOLDS_ENABLED; private mode is also required. Keep it off until the exact app, worker and curator release passes combined migrations 033–036 and rollback checks. A healthy web page alone does not qualify acquisition.

Movie requests do not gain language enforcement from Riven flags; recorded criteria must be checked against delivered tracks. Shared adapters remain subject to qualification. TV acquisition is not automated. Never replace another person's working copy to satisfy a new language preference.

Continue with Audio & subtitles, Personal MAL ↔ AniList sync or Backup & recovery.
